Memership Qualification
- Applicants 18 years of age or older must pay the membership dues to Filipino Community, Inc. by the first membership meeting in January of the current year.
- The parent/guardian of applicants below 18 years of age must pay the membership
dues by the first membership meeting in January of the current year.
- Applicants
18 years of age or older and/or the parent/guardian of applicants below
18 years old must attend 50% of the scheduled monthly General Membership
meetings on or before the scholarship application deadlines.
A proxy, who must be an active member, may represent only one applicant up to two (2) General Membership meetings.
- Honorary
members are not entitled to any scholarship benefits.
Scholarship Categories
A. Initial College Scholarship
Submission deadline: June 15 of current year |

- Full time high-school graduating senior
- Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0
- Official transcript of records (9th to 12th grades)
- Letter of acceptance to an accredited college/university in the United States
- Application form
- Damayan certification

Selection Criteria
- Grade Point Average (GPA): 40%
- Essay, topic and administration of which are to be determined by the Scholarship Committee: 20%
- School-sponsored co-curricular activities: 20%
- Interview, time and and place of which are to be designated by the Scholarship Committee: 20%

B. Books/Transportation Allowance for College Students
Submission deadline: July 31 of current year |
| Requirements |
- Full-time
student with a minimum of12 academic credit units per term
- Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0
- Official
transcript of records for the entire academic year
- Registration for the incoming term
- Application form
- Damayan certification

C. Student Athlete Award for High School Students
Submission deadline: July 31 of current year |
| Requirements |
- Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.5
- Membership
in a school-sponsored sports varsity team, including dance and
cheerleading, as certified by the high school administration
- Transcript of records for current year

- Damayan certification

D. Savings Bond Incentive for Middle and High School
Students
Submission deadline: July 31 of current year |
| Requirements |
- Enrollment in the Juneau School District (6th through 11th
grades)
- "A" Honor Roll - GPA: 3.526 or higher
"B"
Honor Roll - GPA: 3.0 - 3.525
- Transcript of records or End-of-the-Year Report Card with GPA

| E. Vocational Training Assistance |
| The purpose of this award is to provide funding assistance to applicants (18 years old and older) who pursue vocational training for new employment. This is a one-time award and application must be submitted after successful completion of training. |

- Transcript of records or End-of-the-Year Report Card with GPA

What is Damayan?
Damayan is a post-award service component of FILCOM, Inc. Scholarship Program. It is intended to develop socio-civic consciousness and a strong sense of responsibility and volunterism among the awardees as future leaders of the corporation. Awardees and/or their parent/guardian may perform the Damayan requirement.
Required Service Hours
- Recipients of the Savings Bond Incentive, Student Athlete Award, Vocational Training Assistance, and partial Books /Transporation Allowance: four (4)
hours
- Recipients of the $1,000 Initial College Scholarship and the $750 Books/Transportation Allowance: eight (8) hours
- Recipients of the $2,000 and $1,500 Initial College Scholarship: twelve (12) hours
Damayan activites will only be performed for FILCOM, Inc. Awardees who fail to comply with the Damayan requirement will
not qualify for any future scholarship awards, unless FILCOM, Inc.
is fully reimbursed with the amount awarded.
